Brief | Upper Grade Wing with a Computer Lab and Special Ed. Classroom and a detached Library Building.
Description |
The project consists of an upper grade classroom wing and a library addition along with an entire campus modernization. The program requirements included essential services facilities such as Speech Therapy and Psychologist Offices, Special Education facilities, a 24 Station Computer Lab as well as Boys, Girls and Faculty Restrooms. A detached 1,500 sf. Library with an outdoor Reading Court complemented the Upper Grade Wing Addition.
The School campus then consisted only of modular buildings on a park like setting within an affluent part of Thousand Oaks. The biggest challenge was that the existing Home Owner Association was adamantly opposed to any type of construction due to the sites high degree of visibility. Thru visual presentations to district and community leaders, we were able push thru the idea that this not be a modular building, but rather a series of permanent structures to provide a positive focal point for the neighborhood and define the character of the campus.
